How WE Work
We are bipartisan and will work with Senators, Assembly people, who are pro fire department and EMS. The LI Legislative Committee was able to get attention on the EMS Cost Recovery Bill and kept pressure on the legislators to pass it this year.

We traveled up to Altona FD, north of Albany and close to the Canadian border to a news conference regarding the EMS Cost Recovery Bill. The Altona FD has a budget of $700,000 per year to run the fire department. The EMS costs this year were $500,000, which were not reimbursed by insurance payments. At the news conference we emphasized that this fire department would not survive with the increasing EMS costs. We stated, "the EMS Cost Recovery Bill is not about sustainability it is about Survivability!" We came to support the Altona FD and Assemblyman Billy Jones (D, Franklin Co.), who was a co-sponsor of the EMS Cost Recovery Bill with Senator John Brook. Assemblyman Jones is flanked by two female EMTs from the Altona FD.
